The Ananke Group is a collection of moon-like satellites that orbit around Jupiter, and are generally understood to have the same common origin. It is believed that the group was formed when an asteroid was captured by Jupiter, struck an existing moon, and then subsequently fragmented by that collision. It may not be the only time this has occurred.

I made a series of sculptures following the collapse of a marriage and on the heels of the pandemic in 2021. These are from my first batch of experimenting with acrylic triangles as a sculptural expression. I ended up moving four times between two states and three cities in a year and a half. I had stored the original series in a moving box, and by the time I settled the series was obliterated.

I used the wrong cement. Only one original had survived fully intact.

The acrylic material itself was still good, only the cement failed, so there was 100% salvage. I decided to take pieces of each sculpture and adhere them together as I picked the pieces out of the box letting the act of chaos evolve them. This series was then named The Ananke Group.
